| OUR HEROES “FROM THE MEDICAL WORLD”, TO WHOM WE OWE A SPECIAL CONSIDERATION | |
Dr. Heidrun GITTER - Klinikum Bremen Mitte, Prof Hess Kinderklinik, Pediatric surgeon: A very good surgeon, with a big heart and an interesting personality. She has been by our side from the very beginning, gave us advice that helped my parents understand a lot of things about my condition, she accepted me as a patient in times when I was in a critical condition, she helped us get to Bremen. She has always tried to make the best choices for me, from a medical point of view, always thinking on long term. Without her, who knows what might have happened… Or better said, everyone know but prefers not to think about it. |

John E. Foker, M.D., Ph.D. - Unniversity of Minnesota, Pediatric surgeon and professor at the Minnesota University: The inventor of a method for esophagus repair based on the growth of esophagus, in cases of long-gap esophageal atresia, with spectacular results in difficult or even desperate cases. A remarkable man who came from USA especially for me, to try and save my esophagus. Unfortunately, the procedure could not be applied, because my esophagus was mostly cut during the operations in Romania. His website: John E. Foker, M.D., Ph.D.. |

Dr. Georg Selzer - Klinikum Bremen Mitte, Prof Hess Kinderklinik, Pediatrician, cardiologist: A special person, with a big heart, an extraordinary and a very dedicated doctor. He has helped me with advice ever since I was in Bucharest and has played n important role in my coming to Bremen. His words “I can’t say <>…” have played a determinant role so that my mom understood that no doctor can make the decision of transferring me or can guarantee that everything would be fine before he can evaluate my condition, that we have to take the chance and that the treatment cannot be done over the phone. The next day I was in Bremen. He was always by my side, even if sometimes only with advice over the phone for the other doctors when he was not on duty. He came from home several times at very late hours to treat me when I was in very delicate situations. He is indeed, as he jokes himself, “a specialist in matters of the heart”. He gave me the good news that my heart is working perfectly and that I have no trace of insufficiency or other problems. And, above all, I think he likes me ;). |
|
Dr. Lasch - Klinikum Bremen Mitte, Prof Hess Kinderklinik, Pediatrician, specialized in pulmonary problems and artificial ventilation: A very good specialist, a person with a big heart. Even though he usually is serious and imposing, I saw that he can actually be funny when he wants to ;). He was among the people who have helped me with advice since I was in Romania and who have helped me come to Bremen. He was beside me and has helped with professionalism. |

They prepared very carefully my take-over from Bucharest, together with the Romanian doctors, transported and safely “delivered” me to the German doctors in Bremen.
